MJ Abbott Ltd have carried out an extensive installation of a completely new, bespoke water system for the entire estate that has taken over two years to complete from inception to fruition. Through this whole process the service, advice and quality of work has been exemplary. Ever present has been an attention to detail from all parties and a willingness to go out of scope, if necessary, without being asked. The quality, finish, and end result, more than proves the old adage that ‘you get what you pay for’. We are looking forward to having an association with them for many years to come.

We are extremely happy with the pitch - it’s played really well. It’s probably the best the pitch has been since I’ve been here, and I know it hasn’t gone through the winter period yet but at the same stage in the last 15 years it hasn’t been any better. We did the job at very short notice. We decided to put the SISGrass pitch in with only four weeks’ notice, so considering the time they had to get everything organised and put in place I couldn’t fault them.

As for last year’s butterfly bank project, machine operator Peter Jay did a marvellous job for us and was most helpful in discussing the design of the bank and keeping it to schedule during its development. It is quite impressive to watch him working, as he is able to control the bucket of his excavator, as a potter would use his hands working clay.

We struggled initially with wash out on the surfaces which meant we had to overseed once the rains subsided. MJ Abbott’s efficiency during the construction process certainly ensured that we had maximum timescales to get the pitches grown in. The new pitch surfaces have been well received by the players and look fantastic.
