MJ Abbott recently hosted a company-wide Staff Training Day in Dinton to update all staff on the latest developments in the business, and to refresh training in key areas such as health & safety, driving safely, manual handling, and routine maintenance of company plant and vehicles.
With all the staff gathered at our Head Office in Dinton, the day kicked off with a warm welcome and introduction from Managing Director Mick Regan.
We were joined by Chris Cooksley from BSG Training, who gave an in-depth talk about health & safety whilst at work, with a bespoke training programme for all the MJ Abbott staff – in particular, the workforce and contractors that work long hours on site.
Contracts Director Jim Price then took to the stage to launch the new MJ Abbott App, which has been developed to ensure all staff have easy access to important company documents, contacts list, and a helpdesk that allows employees to contact the Payroll, IT, Stores and the Workshop departments internally to assist with any issues.
Lunch gave everyone an opportunity to take a break, digest the morning’s activities, and network with colleagues, before moving on to a busy afternoon of training workshops.
Beyond Driving attended the training day focusing on driving safely, and our very own Dave Mitchell fulfilled our safety obligations with manual handling training.
Other workshops offered refresher training for all the site workforce, covering surveying and excavation, and plant and vehicle maintenance checks.
Following an opportunity at the end of the workshop sessions for questions and answers, Mick Regan brought proceedings to a conclusion by summarising the day and thanking all that attended.
