Following a long-standing relationship with Ken Pryor, owner of Pitch Heating Ltd (PHL), MJ Abbott acquired the assets of PHL in the summer of 2023.
Ken remained involved to train the MJ Abbott Ltd team, and all PHL machinery and design expertise was bought under the MJ Abbott umbrella.
Ken and his son, Lee Pryor, trained a number of key staff in the manufacture of header pipes and mainlines, and in the installation of the over 20 miles of pipework typically found in any one pitch.
This first year has seen MJ Abbott install undersoil heating within two stadium pitches and three training ground pitches, two of which incorporated boiler works.
Contracts Director, Nathan George, said: “It’s a testament to our sports turf teams, who have worked hard alongside Ken and Lee to become competent installers of this complicated system. Our first installation was in December 2023, where we went straight into a cold snap after system commissioning. The system worked very well through a period of cold and frosty weather.”
