MJ Abbott provides water engineering services to hundreds of customers in the south and south-west of the UK. We are experts in boreholes, wells, pumps and pump controls, private water supply systems, leak detection and repair, and water treatment systems.
Private water supplies
MJ Abbott has a wealth of experience in the design and installation of private water supplies utilising groundwater sources. We offer the full service from initial customer enquiry to complete turnkey water supply system.
Public water supplies
MJ Abbott is an Approved Groundworker under the Water Industry Approved Plumbers Scheme (WIAPS). This accreditation formally recognises our ability to install external pipework in accordance with The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999.
Water leaks & minor installation works
Water leaks and minor installation works are our "bread and butter". Whatever the nature or scope of your water supply problem, MJ Abbott should be your first port of call for advice and assistance.
Borehole feasibility & borehole drilling
We work closely with hydrogeologists to analyse the geology below each individual site. We can ascertain the probability of obtaining groundwater, and at what depth to drill. This information is also used to determine the borehole construction specification.
Following completion of a borehole we design and install the appropriate pumping system to extract the water in the most efficient and economical way. We can also provide equipment for water treatment and carry out any electrical work necessary to complete the installation.
Other sources & water treatment
We offer solutions for stream and spring water abstractions, or rainwater harvesting, if the options for borehole drilling are limited.
We work with independent laboratories to ensure the water is of potable quality or to devise an appropriate solution for water treatment. We offer a range of water treatment systems for filtration, ultraviolet treatment, chlorination, hardness removal, pH correction, activated carbon filtration, nitrate removal, and iron, manganese and hydrogen sulphide removal.
Pumps & electrical controls
We are experts in pumps for all water, wastewater, drainage and sewage applications. We use the latest pump control technology to maximise performance while minimising energy consumption. All controls are designed and installed by our in-house NICEIC registered engineers. We also offer solar and wind powered systems for customers wanting to use renewable energy sources.
Water supply networks
MJ Abbott offers a complete installation and repair service, from attending to a water leak to installing an entire network for a private estate, reservoir refurbishment and pipework replacement. We operate a large fleet of specialist equipment: trenchers, rockwheels, non-tension mole ploughs and impact moles for crossing private and public roads. We also specialise in leak detection and pipe location, pressure testing and chlorination.
