Construction of reservoir and transfer services
Worplesdon Golf Club needed to secure their long term water supply for use in their golf course irrigation system. Following a tender process managed by Rodney Bond of the Club, MJ Abbott Limited were awarded the contract.
The scope of work included:
- Construction of a 25,000m³ LLDPE lined water storage reservoir complete with new borehole pump and transfer pipe work
- A new incoming power supply to the clubhouse from the local EDF transformer
- Installation of mainline flow and return pipe work from the borehole to reservoir to irrigation storage tank
- Supply, installation and connection of a new power supply for the reservoir pumping and aeration systems
- Design, fabrication and installation of a control system which automates the functions ensuring that the correct volumes of water are abstracted, stored and available for use throughout the year.
The Club commented: "The skill set and technology utilised to install this system is impressive. Completed in 16 weeks by MJ Abbott personnel the project required earth works teams, pipe laying crews, electricians, electronic engineers, pump engineers, landscapers and project management."
