Reconstruction of The West Course
MJ Abbott secured the contract following a competitive tender process.
Design work was carried out by Ernie Els Design with administration carried out by Wentworth Club and Jack McMillan of McMillan-Shiels Associates.
The project involved the following scope of work:
- Full re-construction of 19 greens to USGA specification including custom-grown turf finish
- Re-shaping and enhancement of 19 green surrounds including re-soiling and turfing
- Re-construction and sanding of all 92 bunkers around the course
- Construction of a new sleeper lined water feature on Hole 18, including water control, recirculation and aeration
- Extension of the existing lake, sleeper walling and recirculation system on Hole 8.
