Bunker renovation works
Following cattle damage to greens and surrounds at Tidworth Garrison Golf Club we were appointed to carry out the remedial works to the affected areas.
The main part of our works focused on bunker damage, as the existing steep bunker faces meant that the immediate area around the affected bunkers needed to be stripped back, re-shaped, re-soiled and turfed to stand any chance of establishing grass on the faces.
The bunker bases also sustained significant damage so the sand was removed, the drainage reinstalled and then re-lined with inverted turf prior to sand being re-spread in the bases.
Whilst on site carrying out the works a number of other bunkers were also pinpointed as in need of attention and significant renovation.
We worked under direct instruction from the Club, removing sand splash from bunker faces, softening and laying back slopes and turfing on completion.
The main reconstruction works included the following items:
- Re-levelling and turfing of tee and immediate surrounds
- Hand repairs of the surface of 3 no greens
- Renovation of 9 no bunkers
- Importation of 80 tonnes of screened topsoil for bunker surrounds
- Supply and lay 1,400m² of turf to bunker surrounds
- Supply and placement of 350m² of inverted turf to bunker bases
- Supply and placement of 60 tonnes of bunker sand.
