Construction of new all-weather practice tee
Following a competitive tender, MJ Abbott was awarded the contract to construct a new all-weather practice tee and pathway for long-standing clients The Grove. The design of the new practice tee was undertaken by the original golf course architect, Kyle Phillips.
The scope of work included:
- Removal of existing tee
- Topsoil strip
- Preparation of base for tee and path
- Installation of timber edging boards
- Installation of Type 1 sub-base blinded with granite dust
- Supply and installation of Huxley Premier Tee Turf 2 for the tee and Huxley Premier Leisure Turf for the pathway
- Adjustment of existing irrigation system to accommodate the new tee
- Turfing to immediate surrounds.
Phillip Chiverton, Course Manager at The Grove, commented: “In just two weeks, the entire practice area was transformed and is now drawing highly positive comments from all who know it and use it.
