Stockley Academy, West London

MJ Abbott successfully tendered for the contract to reconstruct an existing sports pitch at Stockley Academy, which was part of a large redevelopment project carried out by Costain Ltd.

MJ Abbott carried out the following scope of works:

• Remove vegetation and strip existing topsoil from pitch area of 9,000m²
• Pass topsoil through screener to remove all foreign matter from the soil and stockpile in a weatherproof heap
• Expose existing drainage tops and regrade subsoil formation
• Import and spread 125mm depth of sand carpet
• Re-spread screened topsoil
• Import and spread 100mm depth of new topsoil and introduce ameliorated sand
• Installation of sand banding to a depth of 265mm to make contact with the existing drainage
• Cultivate and seed plateau area
• Carry out annual maintenance, including grass cutting, overseeding and rolling.
