Royal Portrush Golf Club, Northern Ireland

As part of the golf course irrigation installation, MJ Abbott carried out various works in relation to the irrigation water supply and water storage facilities.

Working alongside Vulcan Tanks Ltd, a new 650m³ capacity water storage tank was installed within the sensitive dunes.

The project included:

• Cut and fill earthworks and shaping to tie in with the surrounding dunes
• Installation of hardcore bases for tank and pumphouse
• Reinforced ring beam and concrete base installation
• Tank installation including seal pour to first wall ring
• All necessary suction pipework and incoming feed pipework from various supplies
• Final landscaping around tank.

Aside from construction of the water storage tank, MJ Abbott carried out the following associated works:

• Installation of new collection pipework and controls for 5 no existing boreholes within the course
• Design and installation of automatic sand filter prior to tank entry
• Design and fabrication of controls and salinity monitoring system.
