Minchinhampton Golf Club, Gloucestershire

MJ Abbott secured the contract to install a new irrigation system at Minchinhampton Golf Club following a tender and interview process. The irrigation design and tender process was undertaken by Roger Davey of Irritech.

The scope of work included:

• 170m³/hr pump station designed and manufactured by MJ Abbott, with pump suction from existing lake
• Installation of mainlines pipework and replacement irrigation to greens, approaches, green surrounds and tee valve assemblies
• The system utilises Rain Bird irrigation equipment.
• The system includes Rain Bird Nimbus 2 control system, weather station and radio remote control.

Paul Worster, Course Manager, commented: “Despite working almost the entire project in the worst possible weather conditions and on a difficult soil type, MJ Abbott staff were professional throughout and delivered a very good irrigation system. After-sales issues have been dealt with quickly and efficiently, and the club fully intends to expand the system in the coming years.”

MJ Abbott continues to maintain the irrigation system.
