Letchworth Garden City RUFC, Hertfordshire

MJ Abbott was awarded the land drainage contract following a tender procedure managed by John Hacker of sports turf consultants PSD.

The scope of work included:

• Installation of 150 linear metres of 100mm diameter soakaway mainline and 2,100 linear metres of 80mm diameter lateral drainage within 1 no rugby pitch.
• Vertidrain pitch, apply 270 tonnes of topdressing sand and drag mat into holes.
• Installation of sand banding utilising Blec Sand Master. Bands are 20mm wide x 200mm deep at 260mm centres and are installed at 90º to the primary land drainage pipework.
• Initial maintenance including fertiliser application and overseeding.
