HCEG Muirfield, Scotland

MJ Abbott secured the contract to install a new irrigation system at Muirfield, the home of The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, following a tender and interview process. The irrigation design and tender process was undertaken by Adrian Mortram of Robin Hume Associates.

The scope of work included:

• 400m³ Vulcan water storage tank complete with new borehole transfer pipework
• 98m³/hr pump station designed and manufactured by MJ Abbott
• New timber pumphouse manufactured and installed by MJ Abbott
• Installation of mainlines pipework and replacement irrigation to greens, approaches, greens surrounds, tees, walkways and connections into existing fairway watering
• The irrigation equipment manufacturer specified was Rain Bird, utilising decoder based technology
• The system includes Rain Bird Nimbus 2 control system and weather station.
