Flackwell Heath Golf Club, Buckinghamshire

Following previous successful bunker projects on Holes 14 and 16, Flackwell Heath Golf Club carried out a further phase of work in autumn 2013 with MJ Abbott Limited.

The architect for all recent bunker works is Ken Moodie of Creative Golf Design. This latest phase of work included 12 bunkers on Holes 1, 2, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 17 and involved a joint effort between MJ Abbott and the Club.

The scope of works carried out by MJ Abbott included:

• Stripping and removal of all sand, turf and soil from the existing bunkers
• Reshaping by cut and fill to create new bunker shapes
• Lining of all bunker bases with 200mm depth of clean topsoil
• Drainage to all new bunker bases
• Revetted turf edge detail to bunker perimeters to retain topsoil
• Resoiling of bunker surrounds
• Adjustments to the existing irrigation system where required.

All remaining works including final preparation, turfing and sanding of the bunkers was carried out by the Club's in-house course maintenance team.
