Drainage to greens

MJ Abbott secured the contract to install pipe drainage systems to 8 no greens and 2 no fairway areas on The President's Course at Ferndown Golf Club.

The drainage works required the installation of 450 linear metres of 100mm diameter mainline and 830 linear metres of 80mm diameter perforated laterals within the greens playing surface.

The installation process comprised:

  • Removal of turf along trench lines and storing for later re-use
  • Trenching with mini chain trencher
  • Installation of pipework
  • Backfilling with gravel and rootzone
  • Replacement of turf.

As can be seen from the pictures, all machinery ran on boards to protect the greens surfaces.

The new drainage outfalled into existing ditches or existing drainage pipework.
