Bristol Rovers Football Club, New Training Ground
Construction of fibre reinforced pitches and associated works
MJ Abbott Ltd successfully designed and tendered for the construction of new fibre reinforced pitches at Bristol Rovers new training ground in Almondsbury. The Club employed Andy Cole from iTurf Management to oversee material selection and monitor construction.
The scope of work comprised:
- Site clearance, topsoil strip and cut and fill earthworks to create new pitch plateau
- Installation of drainage and irrigation systems
- Import and spread new gravel raft, lower sand and upper fibre rootzone layers
- Preparation and seeding of pitch surfaces
- Construction of landscaped perimeters, car park and access roads
- Construction of irrigation reservoir, water transfer systems and incoming water mains
- Installation of new ball stop fencing
MJ Abbott continues to provide technical support for the irrigation system.
