Addington Palace Golf Club, Croydon

MJ Abbott secured the contract to install a new irrigation system at Addington Palace Golf Club following a quotation and interview process managed directly by the Club. The project was let on a design and build basis, and MJ Abbott designed and specified the system.

The scope of work included:

• Bespoke 44m³/hr pump station designed and fabricated in-house by MJ Abbott
• Installation of mainlines pipework and replacement irrigation to greens, approaches, tees and the 5th and 9th fairways
• The system utilises Toro irrigation equipment
• The system includes the Toro GDC Site Pro control system and radio remote control.

Ron Christie, Course Manager, commented: "We were very impressed with the installation team. Their workmanship and reinstatement of turf meant the finished job was of the highest quality. The project was also completed within the agreed budget and programme. Despite having more sprinkler heads on the course, our water usage has significantly reduced due to the efficiency of the system."

MJ Abbott continues to maintain the irrigation system.
