It was day to remember, as thousands set off on Sunday 7th July to complete the Stars Appeal Walk for Wards 2024, including the 41 strong MJA Dream Team.
The team was put together by Adrian Abbott, who received amazing care from Salisbury District Hospital last year following a heart attack whilst at work, and incorporated MJ Abbott directors, employees, friends and family members, all completing the 10k walk around Wilton House.
Armed with sponsor forms and a company Just Giving page, the team raised a staggering £8,514.15 which incorporated support from MJ Abbott colleagues, suppliers, customers, friends and family. It didn’t stop there with further funds coming in post the cheque handover, bringing the total to whopping £8,764.15. Adrian and team walker Rachel Newman met with Cardiac Rehab Lead Nurse & Stars Appeal Ambassador Lyndsey Randerson, and Consultant Cardiologist Dr Sergio Nabais, both of whom played a key part in Adrian’s recovery.
A HUGE thank you to everyone that helped us smash our target, and if you didn’t get round to donating, it’s not too late to support Team MJA by visiting our Just Giving page: MJ Abbott is fundraising for Salisbury District Hospital Stars Appeal (justgiving.com)
Money raised will help towards the £1million the Stars Appeal, Salisbury Hospital’s Charity, aims to raise this year to fund new equipment such as ‘by your side’ sleeper chairs, enhancements to buildings, and ongoing projects supporting patients across Salisbury Hospital including the Stars Appeal Wi-Fi, hospital chaplaincy, patient clothing and toiletry packs and live music and activities on the wards.
