MJ Abbott wins Principal Award at 2014 BALI Awards
Sports turf construction experts MJ Abbott Limited won the Principal Award in the Sports Grounds & Leisure Facilities category at the glittering awards ceremony for the BALI National Landscape Awards 2014 held on Friday 5th December at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London's Park Lane.

The BALI National Landscape Awards were first introduced in 1976 and are held annually to recognise BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries) members who have demonstrated exceptionally high standards of professionalism and skill in the execution of a wide variety of landscape schemes. The Awards are respected in the UK and abroad as the standard to which others aspire and rightly reflect the prestige of BALI.
MJ Abbott's project at London Irish Rugby Club's new Hazelwood training facility was for the construction of a new world class 17-pitch training complex on the site of a redundant pay and play golf course.
The BALI Awards judging panel commented: "The very complex site has been very well thought out and with guidance from the STRI the contractor has delivered a superb piece of sports turf construction."
Collecting the award from ceremony host Michael Portillo and Julia Hawkins, Director of category sponsor Springbridge Direct Ltd, MJ Abbott's Managing Director Jonathan Abbott said: "We are delighted to win this most prestigious award, which is testament to all the hard work put in by the MJ Abbott team on the London Irish project, and I should like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal and hard-working employees, our suppliers, the project consultants Equals and STRI, and of course our wonderful clients London Irish who are now making full use of their fantastic new training facility."
