MJ Abbott nearing completion of estate private water supply in Hampshire

After many months of design, planning and finally breaking ground, the water engineering team at MJ Abbott Ltd have successfully installed over 25 kilometres of new water pipeline to a private country estate in Hampshire.

MJ Abbott was approached by the Estates Director to replace the original private water supply installed in the 1920s. The new water pipe network consisting of 90mm, 63mm 50mm & 32mm diameter pipes sees the whole estate water supply replaced to the Manor, all domestic houses, farms, and the village inn.

One of the estate borehole pumps has been replaced, along with a new modern pump control and pump protection control panel designed, built and installed by MJ Abbott with GSM Text message alert for pump failures.

A new non-potable water system has also been installed to separate the domestic potable water supply from the non-domestic estate water supply, comprising the installation of a new borehole and pump, 4 no. new concrete reservoirs and a 15 kilometre ring main installed by mole plough.

Following a full week of chlorination of the newly laid pipelines and testing of water samples to confirm water quality, the village water was switched over from the old leaking pipes to the new water supply. The rate of groundwater abstraction to provide the water supply for the whole estate has been reduced significantly and to an all-time low.
