Adrian Abbott of MJ Abbott acted quickly to get the irrigation system back up and running at Royal Jersey Golf Club after their golf maintenance facility was destroyed by a serious fire.
The Royal Jersey Golf Club were devastated when a fire destroyed the majority of their offices and machinery.
Eight firefighters were called to Fort Henry at around 3am on 20th May after reports of an open land fire.
Once crews arrived, they called for a further two water carriers and four more firefighters to tackle the blaze.
The blaze destroyed the majority of the greenkeeping sheds, offices, machinery, computer systems, safety clothing and tools. Thankfully no one was injured.
On hearing news of the fire, Adrian Abbott was soon on the ferry to Jersey with a replacement irrigation computer and control system. Fortunately all the programs were backed up, so it was relatively straightforward to get the irrigation system up and running again at a critical time of year for the golf course.
The Club took to social media to thank the Jersey fire service and everyone involved:
@RoyalJersey Cannot thank @AdrianJAbbott enough for his hard work and amazing effort getting the irrigation back up and running. Thank you to everyone @rainbirdgolfuk @RainBirdGolf your efforts have been outstanding 👏 onwards and upwards.
