MJ Abbott features at BIGGA South West Section Event
Public speaking is not for everyone, but when an opportunity comes along to boast about work that we’re particularly proud of to some old friends…..well who could turn that down?
Discussions at the BIGGA South West event on 8th March
BIGGA South West Section Chairman, Chris Sealey, and BIGGA Immediate Past Chairman, Paul Worster, organized an entertaining afternoon of lectures with a focus on health & safety in the workplace for the South West Section members on Thursday 8th March at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club near Bristol. It was also an opportunity for the new CEO of BIGGA, Jim Croxton, to meet the section members and introduce himself.
Paul, who is Course Manager at Minchinhampton Golf Club, was kind enough to invite MJ Abbott along to speak about our work on the West Course at Wentworth and the health & safety planning that goes into a major construction project.
Billed as "The Changing Face of the West Course at Wentworth", the main presentation consisted of a slide show of photographs taken throughout the construction period with explanations by MJ Abbott Contracts Director, Steve Briggs.
Fellow Director, Mick Regan, then gave an insight into the planning, the regulations and the health & safety management systems required for a major project.
A practical demonstration of the survey and technical equipment used to make a job with a high level of detail, continual changes and an architect living on a different continent run smoothly was given by by MJ Abbott’s Contracts Manager, Graham Humphries.
Finally MJ Abbott Sales Director, Adrian Abbott, gave a presentation on the benefits of remote irrigation system support, sales of amenity products and MJ Abbott's new web shop, MJ Abbott Direct.
The afternoon, hosted by Chris, Course Manager at Chippenham Golf Club, was relaxed and informal. The presentations stimulated a great deal of friendly discussion and debate about the changes at Wentworth and was well received by all who attended.
MJ Abbott Operations Director, Mick Regan, commented: "It's always good to catch up with old friends and it's great to make a few new ones and hopefully we've done that this afternoon.
