All 90 bunkers on the Kyle Phillips-designed course will be renovated, and work to improve drainage will be carried out on 13 holes.

The Blinder liner system will be installed to 18 bunkers, with the aim of helping improve drainage and safeguard design features. Many bunkers will also be built back up to their original levels.

Golf construction specialists MJ Abbott have been brought in for the project, and will work alongside a team from The Grove to complete the works. Profusion Environmental will install the Blinder system.

“These important course improvements highlight our ongoing commitment to significantly invest in our product and will maintain the golf course in prime condition for the 2016 season and beyond, and ensure an exceptional stage is set when we welcome The European Tour’s finest golfers for The British Masters in October,” said Anna Darnell, director of golf at The Grove. “We are expecting the work to take up to eight weeks, but it is important to note that visitor play will be unaffected, with only two temporary greens in use at any one time during the process.”

The British Masters will be the first major tournament held at The Grove since the American Express World Golf Championship visited the course in 2006 – a tournament won by Tiger Woods.

Darnell added: “We want every golfer to experience course conditions and service like they were themselves playing in a Tour event, and we are confident our improvement works will help us to showcase The Grove in its best condition.”
