MJ Abbott Ltd has been awarded partial accreditation under the Water Industry Registration Scheme (WIRS) by LRQA (formerly Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance).
The Water Industry Registration Scheme is designed for contractors that deliver new connections to existing water supply and sewerage networks. These contractors are known as self-lay organisations (SLOs).
To achieve WIRS accreditation, organisations undergo rigorous technical assessments by LRQA across several key areas, including design, construction, connections, commissioning and project management.
WIRS accreditation also removes the need for contractors to gain separate approval from multiple individual water companies. Gaining partial accreditation enables MJ Abbott to tender for and deliver adoptable mains water schemes while progressing towards full accreditation through the formal monitoring process with LRQA.
This milestone allows MJ Abbott to further demonstrate its high-quality approach to public water network installations, building on the strong standards already achieved across its private water supply projects.
This represents a natural next step for the business. By continuing to apply best practice, current regulations and high-quality workmanship, MJ Abbott can now offer a fully turnkey installation service within the water industry.
