British Masters set to tee off at Close House
The 2017 British Masters hosted by Lee Westwood is set to tee off on the Lee Westwood Colt Course at Close House near Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, with a number of the stars of world golf in the entry list.
The British Masters has a rich history as one of the leading professional tournaments on the European Tour. The event was first held in 1946 and has a host of legendary previous winners. The British Masters returned to the Tour schedule in 2015 at Woburn thanks to the support of Sky Sports, and in 2016 it was held at The Grove in Hertfordshire.
The 2017 event takes place over the Lee Westwood Colt Course at Close House, which was constructed by MJ Abbott from 2009 to 2010, and opened by attached tour professional Lee Westwood on 10th May 2011.
A number of top golfers from the US PGA Tour are slated to play, along with their compatriots on the European Tour. Alongside tournament host Lee Westwood, the start list includes Sergio Garcia (2017 US Masters Champion), Rory McIlroy, Ian Poulter, Thomas Bjorn (Europe's Captain for the 2018 Ryder Cup), and Alex Noren (2016 British Masters Champion).
