New golf holes to expand resort to 36 holes
In 2012 Ramside Hall Hotel and Golf Club embarked on a major refurbishment including a state-of-the-art new leisure facility and spa, construction of 20 executive homes and construction of 14 new holes on adjoining land to expand the golf facility from 27 holes to 36 holes. The new holes and revised course layouts were designed by the architect of the original 27 hole layout, Jonathan Gaunt of Gaunt Golf Design.
Golf course shaping
MJ Abbott Limited supplied a full time golf course shaper on one of our 13 tonne Hitachi Zaxis 130LCN excavators complete with Engcon tiltrotator and laser receiver to work under the instruction of Ramside Hall’s Golf Course Manager, Roger Shaw, who project managed the new construction. Our shaper was able to construct green, tee and bunker complexes to the architect and project manager’s requirements. After the terrible weather of summer 2012 we were asked to send operator and machine back for a second visit in 2013 to complete the works.
Primary drainage installation
MJ Abbott were asked to supply a drainage crew to install a skeletal primary piped drainage system to green, tee and bunker outfalls and key areas on fairways. For 5 weeks in the summer of 2013 we provided a 5-man team with our Mastenbroek 15/15 sportsfield trencher, 2 no LGP forward tipping dumpers and 2 no tractor and gravel cart combinations.
