Project summary
A new golf destination for the North East of England
The Lee Westwood Colt Course was designed and the tender process was managed by Scott Macpherson of Turner Macpherson Golf Design.
The project involved the following scope of works:
- 40,000m³ of topsoil strip with 10,000m³ screened
- 125,000m³ of cut and fill earthworks to create new 18 hole golf course
- Construction of greens, tees, fairways and 40 no bunkers
- Design and installation of drainage and irrigation systems
- Installation of electric cables and service ducting
- Construction of 1,700 metres of cart paths
- Construction of new lakes and ditches, de-silting existing lake and restoring ha-ha
- Re-spread topsoil, cultivate and seed fine turf areas
- Seeding 15,000m² of grassland
- Hydroseed 3,000m² of embankments
- Installation of footbridge from the clubhouse to the course.
The Lee Westwood Colt Course at Close House hosted the British Masters in 2017 and 2020.
