Stores Assistant - Yard Person

This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic stores and workshop teams, to assist running the yard & stores efficiently, and to provide excellent service to customers and to our own staff.

You’ll be based just outside of Salisbury at our Head Quarters in Dinton, with occasional delivery duties to project sites.

Key Skills Required:

• Good organisational skills, conscientious and a willingness to meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail.
• Good communications skills & problem-solving abilities.
• Confident to deal with company personnel, customers.
• Physically fit.
• Forklift Certificate an advantage but training can be given.
• Full driving licence required.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Assist Stores & Workshop teams to run the yard & stores efficiently and to provide excellent service to customers and to our own staff.
• To be flexible and work as part of a team whilst maintaining an understanding of the Sales Manager’s requirement for stock rotation and product orientation.
• Receive and put away deliveries – unloading/loading of lorries.
• Carry out such housekeeping duties to ensure that the yard & trade counter is tidy and well organised.
• Pick, pack, and dispatch goods for customers.
• Issue and or pack/send materials to our own staff/sites.
• Assist with customer collections and loading of goods.
• Check and maintain stock accuracy.
• Provide cover for the team in the event of holidays, sickness, or other absences.
• Delivery to customers and MJ Abbott sites will be occasionally required.
• Such other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.

Working Hours:

• 7.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Monday to Friday, with half an hour off for lunch.
