Boreholes, Wells & Groundwater Investigation

MJ Abbott Limited has a wealth of experience in the design and installation of private water supplies utilising groundwater sources.  We offer the complete service from initial customer enquiry to completed turnkey water supply system:  borehole feasibility studies and hydrogeological surveys, borehole drilling and test pumping, Environment Agency abstraction licence applications, installation of pumps and associated electrical work, design and installation of water distribution systems, water quality analysis and water treatment systems.

We have a range of specialised lifting equipment and direct access to all the major pump manufacturers, which allows us to respond immediately when a borehole pump requires replacement.

Water Distribution Systems & Water Treatment

We design, manufacture and install pumping systems, water distribution networks and water treatment systems for many applications, ranging from small domestic to large commercial / industrial systems.

We retain our own electrical and fabrication engineers for in-house manufacture of packaged pump stations and associated electrical control systems.  We also have a fleet of specialised machinery for the installation of water supply pipes, whether by vibrating or non-tension mole plough or various open trenching methods depending on ground conditions or reinstatement requirements.

We offer a range of water treatment systems for disinfection, water softening, nitrate and iron removal, and pH correction.

Water Storage Reservoirs & Tanks

We provide a full design and construction service for water storage reservoirs, ranging from modest storage requirements to large reservoirs for spray irrigation.  We offer practical solutions to problems, providing the client with all the information required to make informed decisions from quantities of cut and fill to the requirements of aeration to prevent issues with water quality.  Our experienced specialist teams complete the installation process with the minimum disruption.

We offer a range of water storage tanks to suit every application, ranging from small moulded plastic tanks to large precast concrete or sectional steel tanks, together with a full expert installation service where required.

Rainwater Harvesting & Stormwater Attenuation

Water conservation has become the focus of political and environmental agencies in the UK.  Many facility managers are being asked to demonstrate that water is being used efficiently and responsibly.  Collecting excess water during wet periods for use in drier times is now an economically viable proposition in many situations.

MJ Abbott Limited can assist in the design and installation of such systems involving the collection of surface water runoff and excess groundwater, channelling this into piped drainage systems feeding into water storage reservoirs.

We also offer systems for stormwater attenuation, such as underground crate systems and special valves to control the rate of discharge into outfalls and watercourses to prevent flooding in storm conditions.

Wastewater & Sewage Treatment

We offer a full range of solutions for wastewater handling and sewage treatment.  We design, supply and install packaged pump stations for applications where a gravity sewage system is not feasible and it is necessary to pump sewage to the public sewer.

We also offer a range of options for sewage treatment, with plants ranging in size from small domestic applications to systems for much larger populations such as schools and nursing homes.  We can supply only, or offer a full service from initial design and obtaining consent to discharge from the Environment Agency, to installation and commissioning by our specialist in-house experts.

Pump Sales & Service

MJ Abbott Limited supply pumping equipment for irrigation, agriculture, building services, industrial and domestic applications.  We hold direct accounts with a wide spectrum of pump manufacturers, including Grundfos, Lowara, T-T, DAB, Godwin, ABS, Calpeda, KSB, Weda, Mono and Grindex.  For more detailed information on Pump Sales, please click here.

A same day emergency service is available to customers in the Wessex region, with next day response available to most other areas.  We offer service contracts for any equipment requiring regular maintenance.

Electrical Services

MJ Abbott Limited is NICEIC registered and our team of electrical engineers carry out a range of electrical installation and testing work, ranging from domestic to large industrial and commercial installations.

Our electrical department is regularly commissioned to build bespoke pump control systems for many applications including water features, leachate pumping and the hire fleets of national pump hire companies.
