RHS Wisley - Surrey
MJ Abbott Limited installed Phase 1 of the mainline irrigation system replacement at RHS Wisley. The first phase included the section of irrigation around the prestigious new glasshouse at the gardens which was officially opened by the Queen in June. The installation required careful consideration to the existing turf, borders and pathways within the gardens.
Burnham Beeches Golf Club - Berkshire
Burnham Beeches Golf Club has benefitted from the installation of an MJ Abbott Limited designed 18 holes automatic irrigation system, including a two and a half million gallon reservoir and a rain water harvesting system was completed in April 2007. Using the Rain Bird Stratus control system the Course Manager can now apply water to all the greens, tees, approaches and fairways.
Telford Golf & Country Hotel - Shropshire
Part of the Q Hotel Group of luxury hotels, the Telford Golf & Country Hotel chose MJ Abbott Limited to install a new automatic irrigation system to their 18 hole golf course in April 2007. The system is supplied by a MJ Abbott variable speed pump set and controlled by a Rain Bird Stratus control system.
Queenwood Golf Club - Surrey
MJ Abbott Limited were chosen to install additional fairway drainage at the world renowned Queenwood Club in Surrey.
Golf Course Manager at the club, Cameron McMillan identified areas around the site for additional drainage to improve areas on this pristine golf course.
Minchinhampton Golf Club - Gloucester
MJ Abbott Limited were awarded the contract to install new mainline pipework, greens, greens surrounds & approach and selected tee watering to both the Cherrington and Avening Courses. The system is fed via a bespoke MJ Abbott pumpstation and controlled via a new Rain Bird Nimbus 2 controller complete with weather station and radio remote control. The difficult ground conditions dictated that all 22,000 metres of main and lateral pipework were installed in trencheswith over 10,000 metres of turf strip and reinstate. The consultant for the project was Irritech Ltd.
Canford Magna Golf Club - Dorset
MJ Abbott Limited undertook a design and built contract for new greens, tees, approaches and greens surround watering for both the Riverside and Parkland Courses at Canford Magna. The installation took place during the winter of 2006/2007 and included a new pumpstation, mainlines, Rain Bird Nimbus 2 control system and radio remote control.
Saunton Golf Club - Devon
MJ Abbott Limited successfully tendered the new irrigation system from a specification and design produced by irrigation consultant Giles Wardle of Irriplan. The replacement system comprises new irrigation within the East & West Courses, to greens, greens surrounds and approaches, tees, selection of fairways and connections to existing fairway watering. The system also incorporates new mainline pipework and Rain Bird Nimbus 2 control system.
La Moye Golf Club - Jersey
MJ Abbott Limited completed the installation of Phase 1 irrigation in early 2007. This involved a new electric supply, reservoir construction, pumphouse and pumpstation construction, partial mainlines installation and borehole supplies. We are currently working on Phase 2, which includes mainline pipework installation, irrigation to greens, greens surrounds and approaches, tees, fairways and rough/mounding areas. The new Rain Bird system features low angle nozzles on the fairway sprinklers, state of the art control system complete with radio remote control and a weather station. The irrigation system and reservoir has been designed in-house. The client has employed Robin Hume Associates to oversee the installation.
Ferndown Golf Club - Dorset
MJ Abbott Limited have been associated with Ferndown for many years, carrying out both drainage and irrigation installations on the 27 holes. 2007 saw the installation of double row fairway irrigation on 10 holes and an upgrade to the incoming water supply. The new irrigation was added to the existing Rain Bird system installed by the company in 2004. The company continues to maintain the irrigation system.
